PF400 is the original Precise Automation model designation for the PreciseFlex 400, a tabletop four-axis collaborative SCARA sample handler now documented and supported by Brooks Automation. It combines vertical-column travel, standard or extended horizontal arms, embedded control, absolute-encoder servo axes, and optional gripper and linear-rail configurations for handling plates, tubes, vials, and small components. PF400 alone is not a complete configured product number; the product label and serial prefix identify the arm length, Z stroke, gripper, rail, and hardware revision
Configurations vary. Verify the exact unit before choosing a replacement.
Brushless DC servo motors with absolute encoders; homing does not require axis motion

The robot is a system component rather than a standalone machine; perform an application risk assessment and provide emergency-stop and safeguarding measures appropriate to the installation
Manual-control speed limit
250 mm/s maximum
What Does PF400 Mean?
PF400 is an exact historical model designation, not the complete orderable product number. Configured PreciseFlex 400 assemblies use additional label fields for reach, stroke, gripper, and revision.

Interpretation
PF400
Model designation
Historical model name used by Precise Automation for the PreciseFlex 400 collaborative SCARA robot.
PF00 or PF0S
Product-number prefix
PreciseFlex 400 assembly family on product labels; the Revision C manual defines PF0S as a PreciseFlex F400 with servo gripper.
0/S or X/L
Arm-length field
Standard arm or extended/long arm, respectively.
4, 7, or 12
Axis-size field
400 mm, 750 mm, or 1,160 mm Z stroke, respectively.
S23 or V23
Revision D gripper field
23 N IntelliGuide servo gripper or 23 N IntelliGuide vision gripper.
F0X, F0B, F0C, or F0D
Serial-number prefix
Initial-release, Revision B, Revision C, or Revision D hardware, respectively.
Configuration Identification
Use the physical product label to distinguish the configured robot from the options documented for the PreciseFlex 400 line.

Record-level evidence
Z stroke
400, 750, or 1,160 mm
The stored auction title states 750 mm.
Horizontal arm
Standard or extended
Not identified by the stored title.
Linear rail
None or 1,000, 1,500, or 2,000 mm travel
The stored auction title states a 2 m rail.
End effector
Servo, vision, pneumatic, or application-specific gripper configurations
Not identified by the stored title.
Hardware revision
Initial release, Revision B, Revision C, or Revision D
A serial prefix is required.
Linear-Rail Compatibility
PreciseFlex 400 linear rails are legacy rails and are not interchangeable with PreciseFlex c3 or c5 rails. Brooks identifies legacy rails by white end caps; c-series rails have a blue end cap at the facilities end. The rail depends on a compatible PreciseFlex robot for power and control and cannot operate as a standalone axis.
