Brooks Instrument GT1020 Glass-Tube Variable-Area Flowmeter
About this part
Brooks Instrument 1020NM0A2AA3F9C00001 is a legacy GT1000-series model GT1020 variable-area flowmeter. Its ordering code specifies a size-10 R-10M-25-3FT metering tube, horizontal inlet and outlet, a 10-RV-64 standard float, 316 stainless-steel end fittings, Viton O-rings, 3/4-inch female NPT connections, a right-side direct-reading gas scale, and ±2% full-scale accuracy. Stored photographs show two exact-code units and confirm a 25 SCFM air scale at 70 °F and 14.7 psia. This configuration has no alarm, relay, needle valve, panel-mount option, or special certificate option
Configurations vary. Verify the exact unit before choosing a replacement.

| V | 2 | 316 stainless-steel end fittings |
| VI | A | Viton O-rings |
| VII | A | Female NPT threaded connections |
| VIII | 3 | 3/4-inch connections |
| IX | F | Right-side direct-reading gas scale |
| X | 9 | No left-side scale |
| XI | C | ±2% full-scale accuracy |
| XII | 0 | No needle valve or flow controller |
| XIII | 0 | No panel-mounting option |
| XIV | 0 | No optional process certificate |
| XV | 0 | No additional certificate requirement |
| XVI | 1 | Standard Brooks identification |
Reference tube-and-float capacity
These values are the manufacturer’s standard water-and-air sizing data for the selected R-10M-25-3FT tube with 10-RV-64 float. They are not a substitute for the configured unit’s engraved gas, calibration conditions, units, and scale range.
| Characteristic | Water reference | Air reference |
|---|---|---|
| Full-scale capacity | 6.2 gpm (1,400 l/h) | 25 scfm (40 m³n/h) |
| Pressure drop | 12 in. water column (3 kPa) | 14 in. water column (3.5 kPa) |
| Viscosity-immunity ceiling | 15 cSt at specific gravity 1.0 | Not specified |
| Required downstream pressure | Not applicable | 0 psig (0 bar) |
Installation and glass-tube safety
Applicable operating precautions for this size-10 GT1000 configuration.
- Mount the flowmeter within 6 degrees of true vertical, with the inlet at the bottom.
- Keep the protective sleeve over the glass tube and fasten the meter window securely.
- Initiate flow slowly and avoid pressure or flow surges.
- Depressurize the process line before service or repair.
- Drain liquid completely if adjacent inlet and outlet valves will both be closed; trapped-liquid thermal expansion can rupture the meter.
- Do not use a solenoid valve in a manner that can impose pressure shock on the glass tube.
Replacement relationship
Brooks identifies the GT1000 as a legacy series and the GT1600 Series as its configurable retrofit replacement family. A replacement must be selected for the original flow calibration, process fluid, materials, pressure and temperature limits, connection geometry, scale, and options; GT1600 is not an automatic one-code substitute for this exact identifier.
