Brooks Instrument 0154E Series Four-Channel Mass Flow Readout and Control Unit
About this part
The Brooks Instrument 0154E Series is a microprocessor-based, four-channel secondary-electronics platform that powers, displays, and controls compatible mass-flow, pressure, and Quantim devices. It supports independent or master/slave blending operation, programmable engineering-unit or percent-of-full-scale readout, valve override, local or remote control, analog process signals, and RS-232 communications. Housing, power-supply, and analog-I/O selections depend on the complete configured order code
Configurations vary. Verify the exact unit before choosing a replacement.
Membrane keys for channel selection, setpoint, blending, valve override, local/remote control, and menu functions
Power
AC input rating
Design specification: 90–260 VAC, 50/60 Hz, 70 W maximum; certification and observed nameplate material also show 100–240 VAC, 50/60 Hz, 100 W, so the configured-unit nameplate governs
Instrument power output options
+15 VDC at 2.9 A and −15 VDC at 1.4 A maximum, or 24 VDC at 2.5 A maximum
Signals
Analog input and output ranges
0–5 V, 1–5 V, 0–20 mA, or 4–20 mA; the manual also documents optional-board support for 0–10 V
Voltage-output load
1 kΩ minimum impedance
Current-output load
750 Ω maximum impedance
Connections
Channel connectors
Four 15-pin D-sub connectors for connected flow or pressure instruments
Remote process I/O
One 25-pin D-sub connector carrying flow outputs and remote setpoint inputs for up to four channels
External valve override
One 15-pin D-sub connector
Communications
Serial interface
Standard 9-pin RS-232 connection for PC control, readout, and data exchange
Two 5 × 20 mm, 2 A time-delay fuses; replacement voltage rating must suit the applied mains supply
Compliance
Certification
CE identified in the manufacturer design specification
Configuration boundary
0154ESERIES is an archive-normalized series identifier rather than a complete Brooks order code. The complete code and equipment nameplate are required to establish the installed housing, ±15 VDC versus 24 VDC instrument supply, analog signal range, mains rating, connector arrangement, and optional I/O hardware.
Channel connector pinout
The manufacturer manual assigns the following functions to each 15-pin channel connector. Power pins depend on whether the unit was built for ±15 VDC or 24 VDC operation.

Successor and retrofit relationship
Brooks identifies the 0152/0154 secondary-electronics products as discontinued and replaced by the 0250 Series. The four-channel Model 0254 has a documented retrofit arrangement for the table-top enclosure formerly used by Models 0152/0154.
Successor familyBrooks 0250 Series
Four-channel successorModel 0254
Mechanical retrofitThe Model 0254 rack-mount kit and power-supply hardware can be installed in a Model 0152/0154 table-top enclosure.
Replacement boundaryRetrofit enclosure compatibility does not establish drop-in electrical compatibility; signal type, power option, cables, and connected-device requirements must be checked.
